. DECEMBER '06 NEWS CHRISTMAS EVE ROLLOVER
12/24/2006- Just after 2:00 AM, units were alerted to Madison Ave and Stonehouse Rd for a rollover with injuries. LH-3 was first in and found one car on its side with 2 occupants who were injured. Rescue 200 responded and crews assisted with patient care and also stabilized the vehicle. LH-1 was also on scene and Engine 205 was returned enroute.
CAR ROLLS OVER INTO DITCH ON ROUTE 25
12/21/2006- At 15:06, Long Hill was dispatched to Route 25 southbound for a motor vehicle accident/rollover. LH-3 was first on scene, took command and reported a vehicle down the embankment. The driver walked away with minor injuries and reported to police he was traveling in excess of 90 mph when he lost control, skid across 3 lanes of traffic, wiped out a guardrail and end up against a tree. DALE ROAD CHIMNEY FIRE
12/17/2006- At 19:08, Long Hill was called to Dale Road for a reported chimney fire. LH-3 was first to arrive and reported sparking embers coming from the chimney. LH-2 established command and gave Tower-Ladder 204 the assignment of laddering the roof. Engine 206 entered the house and extinguished the active fire and removed all of burning wood with metal pails. T-204's crew raked the chimney to loosen any soot and to make sure the fire in the stack was out. All units were clear in under an hour. Other units on scene: LH-1, Engine 205.
LIVE FIRE TRAINING
12/14/2006- Engine 206 participated in a live burn exercise hosted by Trumbull Center. The house, located on Rexview Circle, will be burnt to the ground on Sunday, but crews from Trumbull Center, Nichols, and Long Hill took advantage of the acquired structure by practicing hose advancement, search and rescue, ventilation, and RIT. SMOKE CONDITION AT ST. JOSEPH'S MANOR
12/13/2006- At 21:44, Long Hill, Trumbull Center, and Nichols were called to St. Joseph's Manor for an activated fire alarm. Responding Units were updated with a smoke condition in floors 3 to 5 in the B wing. First arriving units made an interior investigation and Tower-Ladder 204 made access to the rooftop. The problem was isolated to a rooftop air conditioning unit which was shut down, and crews removed the smoke from all floors. Units on scene were LH-1, LH-2, Nichols Car 2, Engine 202, Tower Ladder 204, Engine 205, Engine 206, Squad 209, Trumbull Center Tower 104, and Nichols Truck 304. LH-1 was command.
ELEVATOR RESCUE TRAINING: DAY 3
12/12/2006- Tonight's drill was day 3 of elevator rescue training provided by Dragon Rescue Management. The drill focused on making a elevator rescue using the top hatchway. Rescuers practiced making entry to the elevator shaft, establishing contact with the trapped victims, making entry to the elevator car, and then removing the victims.

12/5/2006- Tonight's Annual Meeting was a great success. It was held in the upstairs portion of Meadow Road Hall, a location that hasn't seen a Long Hill Event in over 10 years. Congratulations to all 2007 Officers, and a special thank you to all outgoing Officers.
CHLOROFORM SPILL EVACUATES OFFICE BUILDING
12/4/2006- At around 1400hrs, units were dispatched to 965 White Plains Road for a reported chemical spill with people sick. Engine 202 and Nichols Car 1 were the first units to arrive and were notified that about 12 ounces of chloroform was spilled on the 3rd floor and two people were complaining of symptoms. Crews evacuated the building and Fairfield County Hazmat was called to respond. E-202 and Nichols Car 2 made primary and secondary searches of the building and also made sure the spill was isolated within the dentist office. The incident was turned over to Fairfield County Hazmat and the Department of Environmental Protection who secured the scene. E-202 cleared about 2 hours later. Other units on scene were LH-2, Trumbull Center Engine 103, Nichols Rescue 300, and Trumbull Car 1. Nichols Car 1 was command.
