. MARCH '07 NEWS LONG HILL SHARES AN MVA WITH FAIRFIELD
3/21/2007- At
18:51, Long Hill was dispatched to Route 15 Southbound prior to Exit 47
for a motor vehicle accident/rollover. En-route, units were updated the
accident was in Fairfield and that Fairfield FD was being notified. LH-2
and Squad 209 proceeded to make an investigation while Engine 205 stood by
on the Main Street ramp. LH-2 arrived on scene to a single car MVA in the
Northbound lane between Exits 46 & 47. Squad 209's crew controlled a small
gas leak and stabilized the vehicle until the wrecker arrived. Other units
on scene were Fairfield Engine 3 and
Stratfield Rescue 15. It was believed the operator was
traveling Southbound, jumped the guard rail, and traveled a little under a
mile against on coming traffic before finally striking the guardrail the

CAR vs. TREE AT THE TOWN LINE
3/15/2007- At
15:15 hours, units from Long Hill and
Trumbull Center
were dispatched to the area of 7184 Main St for an MVA with possible
entrapment. Rescue 200 was the first unit on scene and reported a single
vehicle into a tree. Due to the close proximity of the Monroe/Trumbull
line,
Stepney Engine 101 was also on scene and
advised R-200 that one victim was trapped. R-200's crew immediately went
to work with assistance from Engine 206 and had the victim out in the
hands of
Trumbull EMS in less than 5 minutes. Once
the extrication was complete, all units returned to service and the scene
was left in the hands of Trumbull Police and Stepney. Other units on scene
were TC Rescue 100, and LH-2 who had the Main Street Command. (Photo

3 PEOPLE TRAPPED IN EARLY MORNING EXTRICATION
3/11/2007- At 03:32 hrs, Long Hill and Trumbull Center were dispatched to Route 15 Northbound past Exit 49 for a reported extrication. LH-1 and LH-2 arrived first and reported a car off the road with 3 occupants trapped inside. A 4th patient was able to free himself and was found walking around on scene. Squad 209 arrived next and stretched a hand line for protection while Engine 205, Rescue 200 and TC Rescue 100 extricated the patients from the vehicle and assisted with patient care. All occupants were removed in under 20 minutes and were handed off to awaiting EMS personnel from Trumbull EMS and AMR. Command held S-209 and E-205 while the vehicle was removed. EARLY MORNING EXTRICATION
3/3/2007 - At
03:00hrs Long Hill and
Trumbull Center
were dispatched to in front of 37 Heritage Drive for an accident with
extrication. LH-2 arrived first and reported one car into a pole with the
driver trapped. Rescue 200 and TC Rescue 100 handled the extrication of
the driver who was suffering from a femur fracture and having chest pain.
Engine 205 provided protection with a hose line. The patient was
extricated in under 10 minutes and handed off to
Trumbull EMS. LH-1 was command and units
returned in under one hour. This was the third motor vehicle accident and
second extrication in town that took place within 4 hours.
ROLLOVER WITH FIRE

3/2/2007 - At
23:20hrs units were dispatched to Main Street and Gisella Road for a
reported car fire. While units were signing on updated information was
received that this was a motor vehicle that rolled over. Rescue 200
arrived first and reported a vehicle heavily involved in fire with all
occupants out of the vehicle. R-200 and Engine 205 worked to knock down
the fire while
Trumbull EMS provided patient care. Units
remained on scene until the removal of the vehicle and returned to service

HEAVY RAINS KEEP UNITS RUNNING
3/2/2007 - Friday’s heavy rain along with melting ice created flooding conditions all over the town. The day started off around 08:00 hrs when Long Hill was dispatched to two calls at the same time. From there, the calls did not let up until the afternoon. When the day finally ended Long Hill had run 15 water hazard calls, 1 smoke in the basement, 1 smoke in a house, a fire alarm, 1 odor of gas in a building, 1 odor of diesel outside a residence and 1 rollover with the car on fire. Over 40 calls were handled town wide with Long Hill being dispatched on 21 of them.
