LONG HILL PROVIDES STATION COVERAGE FOR STEPNEY

 

11/29/2007- At 14:28, Long Hill was requested to stand by at Stepney Station 1 for town coverage.  Monroe units were fighting a fire on Maplewood Drive.  Engine 206 stood by at Station 1 but did not take in any calls.

 


 

STATION 1 WINS ANNUAL RODEO

 

11/27/2007- Station 1 reclaimed the Rodeo Trophy with a stunning 16 second victory over the other 2 stations.  The rodeo events were all timed events and the station with the best overall time was declared the winner.  The timed events were a 3 person 35 foot ladder raise, a flying standpipe to the 3rd floor of a parking deck, a 6 person midnight alarm drill, and a SCBA bottle change.  Station 2 came in second, and Station 3 came in last.

 


 

DRIVER UNHURT BUT STUCK IN CAR INTO WOODS

 

11/24/2007- At 16:32hrs, Long Hill & Trumbull Center were dispatched to Spring Hill Road for a motor vehicle accident with extrication.  Rescue 200 & LH-2 were first to arrive to find an SUV heavily impacted in a mess of vines and tree branches.  The crew crawled through the brush to gain access to the single victim trapped in the car. R-200's crew also began and removing the brush from around the vehicle with the assistance of Squad 209 & Rescue 100's crew.  After the brush was removed, the driver's door was able to be opened and the occupant was removed and handed off to Trumbull EMS.  R-200 stood by for the wrecker to remove the vehicle.  Engine 206 provided fire protection during the extrication.  (Photo courtesy of J. LONG HILL RESPONDS OUT OF TOWN TO ASSIST WITH RIT

 

11/16/07- At 00:56 hrs, Long Hill was dispatched special mutual aid to the town of Monroe.  The Stepney Fire Department was in the process of knocking down a house fire & requested The Hill to act as a Rapid Intervention Team*.  Ladder Tower 204 with 6 firefighters & LH-4 responded and set up RIT.  LH units were released about an hour later after the fire was knocked down. *Rapid Intervention Teams (RIT) are an organized group of firefighters that are dedicated solely to search and rescue other firefighters in distress (Photos courtesy of M. CAR LANDS VERTICAL OFF THE PARKWAY; DRIVER UNHURT

 

11/6/2007- At 21:22 hours, Long Hill was dispatched to Route 15 in the area of Exit 48 Northbound for a motor vehicle accident.  LH-3, LH-4, Rescue 200 & Squad 209 responded from Meadow Road where a monthly meeting was just finishing.  While in route units were advised the car had gone off the side of the parkway and down an embankment and a single victim was trapped.  Rescue 100 was added as mutual aid for the extrication.  Luckily the driver was able to escape the wreckage and climbed back up to the Merritt.  Units remained on scene for over an hour while the car was removed from the woods.  (Photo courtesy of A. LET THE LIGHTS BEGIN

 

11/4/2007- The Holiday Season got its first kick into high gear as members of Station 3 and the Toy Drive Committee members started to lay out the ground work of this years Holiday Light Display. Check back soon for details on the official Lighting Ceremony as well as the schedule and viewing information.

TWO NEW 25 YEAR MEMBERS HONORED AT OLD TIMERS NIGHT

 

11/3/2007- This Saturday, Long Hill held its annual Old Timers Night at the Stone Barn in Monroe.  The history of the LHFD was in full force at the dinner which honored two new 25 year members to its ranks.  Lieutenant Michael Trotta & Deputy Chief Doug Bogen were honored with 25 year pins.
