VICTIM EXTRICATED IN AFTERNOON ACCIDENT

 

9/24/07- At 17:01hrs, Long Hill and Trumbull Center responded to the intersection of Church Hill Road and Quality Street for the motor vehicle accident/extrication.  LH-2 was first to arrive and reported a single occupant in the driver's seat of one of the vehicles.  Crews from Rescue 200, Rescue 100, and Squad 209 worked to free the trapped occupant and stabilize the scene.  Monroe EMS was called in to provide patient care.  Trumbull Car 2 and LH-20 were also on scene.

TWO OF LONG HILL'S BRAVEST ARE RECOGNIZED BY THE CSFA

 

9/15/07- Lt. Michael Trotta and Firefighter Thomas Tarantino were given a Citation for Meritorious Service by the Connecticut State Firemen’s Association. The award was given at the Annual State Convention during it’s business meeting. The award is in recognition of rendering a service beyond the ordinary course of duty. The citation goes onto state “their intelligence and timely judgment during the performance of a difficult task resulted in the protection of life and property”. The two were anonymously nominated for this award for their rescue attempt at a house fire on Tashua Lane back in January.  Read the Trumbull Times article HERE.
 


 

SEELEY ROAD SHED FIRE

 

9/8/2007- At 14:06hrs, Long Hill was dispatched to Seeley Road for the reported shed fire.  Engine 206 was first due and reported a 15 x 20 shed in the back yard that was well involved with fire.  Engine 206 put a hose line in place and started knocking down the fire.  Squad 209 laid in from the hydrant to establish a water supply for E-206.  Ladder 204 assisted with the knock down and all units worked to overhaul the structure. Rescue 200 and Engine 205 were also on scene.  Units were on scene for about 1 1/2 hours.  LH-22 was command.  (Photos courtesy of M. Eckert)

ROUTE  25 EXTRICATION MESSES UP EVENING COMMUTE

 

9/4/2007- At 15:30hrs, Long Hill and Trumbull Center were dispatched to the intersection of Main Street and Cedar Hill Dr for a motor vehicle accident/extrication. LH-23 was the first fire unit on scene and reported a 3 car MVA with one occupant trapped.  Rescue 200's crew stabilized the patient and vehicle, then extricated the driver, leaving her in the hands of Trumbull EMS.  Engine 206 was on scene and provided a hand line for protection.  Route 25 was shut down in both directions for a little more than a half hour, which greatly affected the evening commute. LONG HILL UNITS ASSIST POLICE WITH ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

 

9/2/2007-  At 19:33hrs, Satellite 203 and Ladder 204 were requested to respond to Route 25 @ Tashua Road to assist Trumbull and Monroe PD with an accident investigation.  Upon arrival, the Satellite set up lighting to illuminate the scene and the ladder was utilized for aerial photography of the scene as well as lighting.  Units were clear of the scene in 3 hours.

 


 

DINING ROOM FIRE AT ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY

 

9/2/2007- At 10:38hrs, Long Hill, Trumbull Center and Nichols were dispatched to Spring Meadows Assisted Living for a fire alarm. As units went responding, dispatch updated the call with a report of fire in the dining room. LH-2 arrived first and found a fire that had been knocked down by the sprinkler system. Crews from Engine 205, Squad 209, Ladder 204 and Tower 104 overhauled and checked for extension. Engine 206 and Quint 303 staged and were then diverted to a fire alarm in Long Hill's district. LONG HILL ASSISTS WITH WATER RESCUE

 

9/2/2007- At 07:07hrs, a request was sent out for any Long Hill Diver to assist Nichols at Pinewood Lake for reported youths missing in the lake. Nichols, along with the Trumbull Center Dive Team and the Trumbull Police Dive Team were on scene with reports from bystanders that they heard screaming, then saw a canoe in the water but no one around it. Squad 209, LH-1 and LH-4 responded and assisted units on scene. After searching the water for over 2 hours, the youths were located several blocks away. (Photos courtesy of M. Eckert)
