CAR BACKS INTO OFFICE BUILDING

 

6/27/2009- At 10:47 hrs, Long Hill was dispatched to Technology Drive for a car into a building. Rescue 200, Ladder 204, Squad 209 & LH-1 responded to find a single vehicle well into the building.  The driver was not injured.  Crews worked to shut off a severed water line, check the building for structural instability, and assist the wrecker with removing the vehicle from the building. CHERRY GATE LANE STRUCTURE FIRE

 

6/26/2009- At 18:37 hrs, Nichols, Trumbull Center & Long Hill as the Rapid Intervention Team were dispatched to Cherry Gate Lane for the reported kitchen fire.  Ladder 204 & Rescue 200 responded to provide RIT to the fire. While responding to the scene, dispatch updated units of reports of heavy fire coming from the rear of the structure.  Due to the size of the house and location off the road, mutual aid was called in from Monroe, Shelton & Newtown to the scene. Monroe, Shelton & Norwalk also provided station coverage throughout town to cover any additional calls occurred.  LH-1 & 3 were also on scene.  LH-3 was command, and LH-1 was assigned operations.

R.I.T. TEAM CALLED TO TRUMBULL CENTER KITCHEN FIRE

 

6/3/2009- At 21:50 hrs, Trumbull Center, Nichols & Long Hill as the Rapid Intervention Team were dispatched to Wesley Drive for the reported kitchen fire.  Ladder 204 & Rescue 200 responded to fill the assignment but were luckily not needed.  The fire was out on arrival but a heavy smoke condition as well as possible extension into the wall existed.  Units overhauled the kitchen and returned to service.

 


 

BRIDGEPORT ANNUAL RETIRED FIREFIGHTERS MEMORIAL SERVICE

 

6/2/2009- At 1900 hrs, the Long Hill Fire Department played host to the annual B.A.R.F. Memorial Service at St. Theresa's Church on Main Street. The Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters include fire departments from Bridgeport, Stratford, Fairfield, Monroe, Westport & Trumbull. Members from all these departments began with a short march down Main St. from LH Station 2 to the church.  The purpose of the ceremony is to honor members who had given their lives in the line of duty. During the ceremony, the names of the fallen were read aloud.

 

A special thank you to the Trumbull Center & Nichols Fire Departments for their assistance with this event as well as the LHFD Ladies Auxiliary who organized the reception & refreshments afterwards. (Pictures courtesy of J. Grout)
