TRUMBULL RAISES THE COLORS AS UNITED RIDE COMES THROUGH

8/29/2010- Today, members of the Long Hill FD assembled at Station 1, Station 2 and Marisa's Restaurant parking lot in preparation for the 10th Annual CT United Ride. The CT United Ride is an event that honors everyone who was lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. This year the ride also honored Bridgeport FD Lt. Steven Valasquez and FF Michel Baik who tragically lost their lives at a structure fire on July 24, 2010. Long Hill 204 and Trumbull Center 104 set up and hung a large American Flag over the street in front of Marisa's. Truck Companies from Nichols, Paugussett Hook & Ladder (Derby) and Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Co. (Shelton) also hoisted flags over the parade route in front of the restaurant. Members from Long Hill also staffed the firehouses for the duration of the ride and had the apparatus on the front ramps to show our support for the rider's. The CT Post is reporting that 2500 motorcycles attended the event. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the ride! (Photo courtesy of J. Grout)

ROLL-OFF TRUCK ROLLS OVER LIGHT POST; DUMPS FLUIDS

8/11/2010- At 12:58 hrs, Long Hill was dispatched to the Trumbull Mall for the reported fluid spill from a motor vehicle. LH3 & Squad 209 arrived to find a roll off truck that had hit a light post in the area of the upper parking deck of Target. The truck, carrying about 20-30 quarts of oil, split open its oil pan and the spill was mitigated with speedy dry. Units cleared in about 20 minutes and scene was left in the hands of Trumbull PD and Mall Security. (Picture provided by A/C Alex Rauso)
