LONG HILL ASSISTS AGAIN IN BRIDGEPORT ON A SCORCHING DAY

7/6/2010- LH members were trying to beat the heat by staying inside, but that came to an end quickly in the morning hours. Around 09:00hrs, the Bridgeport FD requested LH personnel to stand by in their own quarters and staff our Ladder & an Engine. Bridgeport FD was on the scene of a commercial building fire at 402 Hancock Avenue. The members arrived in house to man the equipment.

Moments later, BFD received another call at 2625 Park Avenue, Embassy Towers, for a structure fire. BFD dispatch had reports of fire showing from a 10th floor window. S-209, T-104 from Trumbull Center & LH-3 responded to the Park Ave fire. Other mutual aid units including Milford, Fairfield, & Westport were also operating on scene. Squad 209's crew assisted with a search of the floors above the fire floor for any occupants still in their apartments.

While LH units were operating at Park Ave, BFD again asked for mutual aid coverage, but this time they requested the Satellite from LH to respond to Hancock Ave. Satellite 203 & Engine 202 responded to the scene and worked with the BFD units on various tasks around the fire ground. 203 and 202 remained on scene until approximately 16:00hrs & then were cleared to return home.

While LH units were operating in the city, several other LH calls were received and handled by the personnel standing by in LH stations and a Stepney rig that was in district for mutual aid coverage. Thanks to everyone who came out to help out on that HOT HOT day.
