Blizzard Eugene – 3/14/17

March 14, 2017 (7:19am) – A blizzard warning is now in affect for our area and the snow is falling.  There is a state wide travel ban in place and we encourage our residents to stay off the roads today.  The forecast is calling for significant snowfall totals and that will create other treacherous conditions.  We would like to remind our residents of the following:

  • Strong wind gusts may lead to downed power lines.  Always assume all downed lines are energized.  Do not or approach or attempt to move.
  • If you should lose power and plan on running a generator, please make sure you run the generator outside of your home and not in the garage.  Running a generator in a garage can cause high CO levels which can harm you or your family.
  • If you’re operating a snow blower and it gets clogged, DO NOT try and clear the jam with your hands.  Use the tool provided with the equipment or a broomstick.
  • Remember our Adopt-A-Hydrant program.  If you have a hydrant in your area and it it covered in snow, please take a few minutes and clear around it.
